Pike and Trident: Chrononauts

Day 3

A little research in the morning. Reviewed a couple episode scripts. Then I partied with my cast and crew(Fight Class) at Bobby Burns night at the Buchanan Arms in Burbank. It's an annual blast where the hagis must be tasted! And we were all entertained by The Ploughboys and, of course, Dan Speaker on the Bagpipes!!

Check out The Buchanan Arms on Facebook:

Day 4

Did some more research this morning. This time on pop culture Time Travel and what people are saying about. Just looking at pictures for now, but I have heard that time travel is possible so I will be checking that out!!

Hopefully I will find some cool articles to share with you soon!

Day 5

Had only a small amount of time for Pike and Trident research. Today I taught my first Theatrical Combat class to some middle school age kids. I was an absolute blast!! I love when they ask questions like, "Will we be able to knee and kick people?" and I say, "Yes and they won't feel it at all!"

The students loved it when I showed them how gripping their cutlass was the same grip they use on their game controller!

Time Travel

Check out this article on Time Travel by Jon J. Thaler. It was last updated in 1994 and I am sure there have been a slew of new theories since then. But this is a great article to start us out here.

Day 2

I started the day checking out pictures on Pinterest. What a great place to go to get inspiration and information on history, fashion and who's who.

You can join Patty Jean Robinson and I on our Pinterest board:

We are having a lot of fun with it!!

Then I had to take care of real world stuff. Specifically, getting Livescanned so I can teach Theatrical Combat to some awesome students at Learn Beyond the Book School in Santa Clarita, CA.

There was a gentleman in the Livescan office who had just finished having his livescan done and he looked at Jan Bryant and I and said, "I don't mean to be nosy, but why do YOU ladies need to get livescanned?" HA! We just smiled at him and said, "So we can teach at a school." It just made me wonder a bit why HE was getting a livescan...things that make you go hmmm....

Then it was off to It's a Wrap in Burbank to check out clothes. It's a Wrap is a used clothing store that sells clothing that has been used in Television Shows!! It's so fun. There were clothes from Castle, Desperate Housewives, Mission Impossible and so many more.

Of course there were a  lot of items that were size 1, but I just put those back on the rack.

And It's a Wrap  had a 50% off on all clothing today! Absolute Huzzah! Jan and I realized that it was our destiny to go there today. We were also joined by the Costume Designer for Pike and Trident, the extremely talented Olivia Schlueter-Corey. You will learn a lot about her in the coming months!

Olivia is also an amazing Theatrical Combat Swordswoman!! Check out some pictures of her doing a Light Sabre fight in Patty Jean Robinson's Facebook album:

I was able to find a shirt that might possibly, maybe, if we go that direction with my character in the webseries, be useable for Pike and Trident!

So I considered it a successful day of shopping - since shopping for clothes is not something I excel at or enjoy. But it was a total victory today!

If you get to Burbank and want to check out It's a Wrap, here is their website with their locations and contact info.  They also have an online store!

That's the update for today!

I am just going to dive right in here. I am starting a new project and the more work I do on it, the more I realize it's going to be a massive endeavor! HA! I guess it's just time.

Produced by: A Company Yet to be Created

Created by: Kim Turney and Patty Jean Robinson

Release Date: Fall 2014

What is Pike and Trident? It will be a 10 episode web series that will have Time Travel, Characters out of history like you have never seen them before, tons of action and the hysterical antics of Pike and Trident.

What am I doing about it today? I am writing a blog! YAY!

I am also doing tons of research. This is going to be a SAG-AFTRA production because all my actors, who are all my friends and students are SAG-AFTRA members. They are an amazingly talented group. But doing a production as a SAG-AFTRA signatory requires a lot of up front work. If you want to produce a SAG-AFTRA production using the New Media Contract, you can find lots of info here:

I am also researching locations. I want to find studios that have standing sets, meaning the studio space is decorated and furnished appropriately for the time periods we are going for. Fortunately we are shooting in Los Angeles so there are plenty of studios to choose from. I am open to any suggested anyone might have!!terms

We need to learn about getting Film Insurance, Permits, how to work with FilmLA to get the permits, Equipment Rental, Catering and so much more fun stuff. But it is all stuff I have done before - just never all at once. There are great websites with all the info you need to do this now.

Oh, and then there is getting the money for the budget I have set! That's a whole other bag of candy! Can you say, INDIEGOGO? RAWR!

So I hope you will follow my blog as I share the antics, hoops and pitfalls of creating an internet project from scratch.

Coming soon: Pike and Trident on FACEBOOK and TWITTER. I will be keeping you posted!!

In the meantime, "Do as the Romans do."
